Coppola's Newest Release Takes Us "Somewhere" Languid and Beautiful

If you like synchronized strip teases by twins, then Somewhere may be the film for you. Sofia Coppola's 4th feature-length film, about burnt-out Hollywood actor, Johnny Marco, (Stephen Dorff) and his daughter, Cleo (Elle Fanning) living in LA's Chateau Marmont is a positive affirmation of her unique style.

The interplay between the main characters is charming and honest. Cleo calmly takes down the plates of the paparazzi following her father's car, as he smiles on her quick thinking with a loving, “Good girl.” Later, they also share room service while watching Friends in bed. It's honestly heartwarming to watch the two finally develop a father-daughter relationship throughout the film.

Dialogue is sparse, however, and if constant action is a must, Somewhere may come as a snooze-fest. However, like Coppola's previous films, it is a feast for the senses, with each frame like a perfectly-composed photo and a fantastic soundtrack.
